Barcelona ready to offload Raphina and Anssumane Fati to bring Lionel Messi back at Camp Nou – Reports

In an effort to re-sign Lionel Messi, Barcelona are ready to offload Raphina and Anssumane Fati, according to El Nacional.

Messi’s contract with PSG will expire in June, and with the team out from the Champions League, it is highly unlikely that Messi will stay in Paris. PSG was eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16 for the fifth time in seven years. The lost 3-0 on aggregate to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Barça continues to dream of Lionel Messi, and they believe that it is more possible than ever to be able to bring him back. Before Barcelona bring Messi back to Camp Nou they will have to create space in their squad.

As per El Nacional, the first casualty would be Raphinha, who has failed to convince with the performance he has offered in his first months in La Liga.

Another player set to potentially leave Camp Nou is Anssumane Fati.

With the youngster’s potential departure, the club could look to raise significant funds and free up the coveted number ’10’ jersey for Lionel Messi.

According to El Nacional, the Argentine was jealous of the youngster’s growing popularity amongst Barcelona fans. This was one of the primary reasons for the breakdown in their relationship, in addition to Fati changing his representation to Jorge Mendes.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has dropped a hint that Lionel Messi could return to his boyhood club.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Laporta highlighted the need for an attacking player and a central defender, but conceded that the club will have to shift some players out in order to make deals happen.

“Barça will surely have to sign a winger and also a central defender as long as in this case there is some good opportunity,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.

“Surely a striker will come, but someone will have to come out.”

Laporta’s comments come shortly after Laporta was revealed to have met with Lionel Messi’s father.

“I met Jorge Messi yes,” Laporta said.

“We talked about the World Cup and a tribute match for Leo. He’s at PSG right now, so I don’t want to speak about whether or not he could return.”

On meeting with Messi, the Barcelona president said: “I had to make a decision. Club above all. We didn’t have a good fair play at the time, I still feel sad about it. I had to choose and I chose the club. In Paris, we saw each other.”
